It’s 1951 all over again

Okay, so I didn’t say anything about Survivor’s racial segregation, largely because I’m as interested in the stupidity of pop culture as in the wooded areas bears shit in. But this is just frightening:

Nine black children attending Red River Elementary School were directed last week to the back of the school bus by a white driver who designated the front seats for white children.

(…)

And the nine children had to share only two seats, meaning the older children had to hold the younger ones in their laps.

A new solution reached Monday by School Board officials has a black bus driver driving across town to pick up the nine black children.

The solution here is actually a great idea, coming to think of it. Instead of boycott the Montgomery bus services, all civil rights activists had to do in 1954 was push for an alternative bus system serving only blacks and driven by black bus drivers. It’s so obvious now.

If you think that this is bad, go to Appletree and read Gordo’s posts about the resegregation of education in the US.

  1. SLC says:

Scarborough country on MSNBC had a piece on this issue the other night featuring my favorite perpetually angry man, Leo Terrell, who is a lawyer in Los Angeles. He was even angrier then he was 2 weeks ago when he tore a strip off of Mel Gibson.

  2. Thanks for sharing this information. Really is pack with new knowledge. Keep them coming.
